The Uvemvane Lwe-Afrika is a group of inspiring volunteers that seek to inspire change through social projects in Molweni. Their dedication and passion for assisting the less fortunate community members in Molweni have been immense.
Through programmes such as life skills development, education, sports and arts, the organisation aims to cultivate intentional leadership and career development for young people. However, due to financial constraints, the group struggles to propel its goals in the community it serves. As a result, the majority of their work depends on donations.
With the KwaZulu Natal Department of Education’s Nutrition Programme facing challenges, Halfway Ford Waterfall provided support with a donation of R2 000. The contribution served two purposes: R1 000 towards the weekly stipend of the school’s Physical Science Tutor, Mr Manqele, and the balance went toward the organisation’s school food programme.
Consequently, Uvemvane Lwe-Afrika was able to provide a temporary weeklong solution for initiatives such as the 2023 Maths and Science Winter Camp.
There’s no telling how much further both groups can work together in uplifting the community. With the first steps taken, the hope is that the partnership will continue to serve communities beyond Molweni. Uvemvane Lwe-Afrika and Halfway Ford Waterfall have made a difference through this collaboration, and the organisation hopes it is one of many.
